The beginning of ATHECOR Development Corporation can be traced to the hard work and efforts of Dr. Ariston Cortes Jr. and his wife Mrs. Teofila G. Cortes.

Together they ventured into agribusiness - poultry, fishpond, production of salt, calamansi and other agricultural products and they also went into general merchandise. Along the way, they also engaged in buying and selling of real estate.

In 1980 ATHECOR Development Corporation was approved by SEC and in 1982, ATHECOR & KS building, a 2 storey building in Tipolo, Mandaue City was built. It housed a movie house, bowling alley, restaurant and store spaces. At present the building has been converted into store and office spaces for lease. Since then ATHECOR started developing and building subdivisions and condominiums around Cebu City specifically in the area of Mandaue, Talisay and Talamban.

Since 2008, the company already built pocket subdivisions like South Covina in Talisay city, 88 Brookside in San Roque, Talisay, 88 Hillside Residences in Pagsabungan, Mandaue City, and 88 Summer Breeze in Pit-os Talamban, Aizen Flats Condominium in Alang-Alang Mandaue. The company still has sizable properties that are potential for more residential projects.
